Privacy Policy — Easy Tab Rename
Last updated: 7 July 2026
Easy Tab Rename is a local-only tool. It does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data to the developer or any third party. No data ever leaves your browser.
What the extension does
- Lets you give a browser tab a custom, persistent name (by whole site or exact page) and optionally hide the tab's icon.
- Re-applies your chosen name and icon setting as you browse, refresh, and restart.
- Lets you export and import your name map as a JSON file that stays on your device.
Data handling
- Everything stays in your browser. Your rename rules are stored via Chrome storage (local and, if you use Chrome sync, synced across your own devices by Google). The developer never receives any of it.
- No third parties. No external servers are contacted. No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
- The extension only reads and writes each page's title and favicon link tags to apply your settings. It does not read, collect, or transmit page content.
- No sale or transfer of user data; no use for unrelated purposes; no use for creditworthiness or lending.
Permissions
storage — save your rename rules on your device / Chrome sync.
tabs — read the active tab's URL and title so the popup can target the right site or page.
- Host access to all sites — required to set and re-apply your chosen title and icon on any website.
Your control
- Remove any name from the popup or the options page at any time.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all stored rules.
